Skills That Fashion Schools Often Don't Cover

If you are a student of fashion then you spend most of your time in learning how to create fashion illustrations, draping, sewing and other such things. These are good skills to have and a student must have such qualities. But these are not very practical if you want to do a job in fashion industry. You must know in the real world that how to create computerized sketches, and development of a design. Some of you will be thinking that I’ve already these things in college. But it’s my answer to those people I know that you’ve already read these things, but still you have no idea how to make a design take it from the experience. Fashion schools and colleges don’t focus so much on these topics as they need. Now I will discuss about each skill and that’s importance in the industry.

Draping and Patternmaking

Patternmaking and draping are useful skills. If you have stuck into the fashion for creative reasons then often you are in miserable condition. In this type of fashion you always need a basic understanding that how to fix bad one and how to make a good fit. Often in the design position it’s not necessary to know about the patternmaking skills, since when you have not been planning to enter a Project Runway. Sewing is also a category of fashion it provides us many new fashionable clothes to wear. Sewing is not relevant to the creative design. It helps us to understand the general concepts of consumption of clothes.

I am very sad to say that fashion illustrations are now going to die. They are not used by designers in the real world. Computer drawn stylish sketches have taken place of fashion illustration
